Breast Cancer survivor Kara Adams, speaker, author, and coach, is showing women how to step into their true identity as glorious, empowered, magnificent beings. It's all told in her book Hidden Treasure: 5 Steps to Transformational Self-Love and is available just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Hidden Treasure is one woman's inspirational story about taking catastrophic life-altering events and turning them into GEMs of enlightened self-love.
Kara Adams was diagnosed on May 3, 2016, with stage one, type two, triple positive breast cancer. At the time, her son was 6 years old, and her husband, Troy, had been married for 9 years. Kara was scared to death of the diagnosis and had no idea how she was going to support her family and take care of her young son. Cooking meals, doing homework, and trips to the doctor's office were all more than she could bear. Kara was blessed that she had a support system that could help her with all of the things that she couldn't do for herself or her family. Kara learned very quickly through talking to other cancer patients that there was a need for family support that was not being filled. Families dealing with cancer need support; sometimes, they need money, but more often than not, they need a helping hand. Kara works closely with Susan G Komen, which supports breast cancer research, patients, and families that have been touched by cancer.
In her book, Hidden Treasure: 5 Steps to Transformational Self-Love, Kara Adams teaches us that we are more than just our past life experiences, no matter how harsh these may have been. She leads us through a harrowing and deeply inspiring walk through her own past, including infidelity, infertility, family trauma, and her life-threatening illness, to show us that despite any circumstance, we can rise to live the passion and purpose designed for us. Part memoir and part personal development book, Hidden Treasure is beautifully written. Kara engages the reader with her contemporary, colloquial, and chatty voice. As she tells things from her own point of view, she keeps an otherwise deeply serious series of life circumstances fast-paced, authentic, and laced with wit. The dialogue is delightful. As the story unfolds, the reader discovers that, with the help of family, friends, and committed healthcare professionals, the author literally pulls her life from the brink of death. Many books talk about the value of self-care and how to do it. But none is backed by such strong, compelling evidence-a true story told in first-person of what can happen when one neglects her health and herself. In today's over-committed, "I'm-too-busy" world, no book can be more important.
Kara is coming off the success of co-starring in the hit series "Baby Drivers" on Discovery + which introduces the viewers to the high-stakes world of racing and the kids behind the wheel aiming to be the next great professional racing superstar. And she is not stopping her passion from continuing in her life's purpose.
